About the Art of FESZT Laszlo

The Art of FESZT Laszlo is unique within Hungarian contemporary art since he is one of the few artists who is able to mix new and traditional elements convincingly within this works. These two elements can relate to each other without their essence being changed meanwhile they amalgamate into a new substance, to a third type of reality that is visually challenging and compatible with our surroundings. His works are refreshing to look at, one can keep discover new and new elements. The viewer’s  mind and soul is equally being addressed by this art.
Feszt’s pieces consists of unique spiral-shaped motives that are decorative and capable to invoke ancient symbols. In his aquatint graphics Feszt depicts figureheads and motives taken from various cultures and religions such as world symbolizing mandalas, abstract forms reminiscing tribal tattoos, lotuses, Buddhas, mythological creatures, shaman drums, catholic motives, etc. All these are derived to the point when the viewer has to find the forms within webs of lines. The forms and motives are not self-evident, since they are charged with up to date contents in Feszt’s visual language. One of his recurring motives are the contacted arches culminating in faces suggesting various possibilities of human contacts, from reserved attitudes to interdependence. The core of all his motives is a spiral resembling the macrocosm as well as the vivid world of our particles and our floating world, its nascent and its demise. The most impressive work of this series depicts a mother whose figure includes an embryo. Its egg shaped figure refers to fertility and to various dimension of the creation.
The Pictures of Feszt are filled with eternal and actual topics and offer new marvels every day.
